This is quite a beautiful guitar, Mark. I’ve never had any interested at all in a dreadnought due to the “boxy profile,” but the manner in which you’ve brought out a more feminine appearance has me re-thinking my stance on them.

I’m very interested in your use of natural stone…especially processing it yourself for this application. It’s something that’s been hanging around in the periphery of my mind, though I haven’t yet pulled it to the forefront. Your wonderful results may be just the impetus I’ve been waiting on. I’ve always enjoyed and admired your ability to pull colors and textures together into a singularly cohesive product.

Thanks Lonzo, there is certainly an abundance of different kinds of stone. Some stones are too soft like Talc and others are too hard like Diamonds. I'm finding the Goldilocks range of hardness is about 3 through 6 on the Mohs scale. That would be about as hard as a fingernail to a steel nail.

Usually the thickness of inlays for guitars comes in at about .050" That is a real trick to get to with really hard stones. A lot of crystal laden stones just start to fall apart when brought down too thin.

BRILLIANT! Love the shape. Love how it does not go all the way to the end....You have succeeded in adding something a little different.

You have made a new mark that I am sure others will soon follow. That is all we can hope for in life...to make some kind of mark that will make a difference.

Bravo!
Thank you for your kind words. Steel string guitars are still babies in the world of musical instruments.
To me, that is a large part of the appeal in building them. It's a wide open field for creativity and innovation.

Thanks Joel, There is a certain big voice you can get from a dred that is very appealing. However, I make fingerstyle guitars and I feel we need at least a little bit of a waist so it can be comfortably played while sitting. That being the way the majority of fingerstyle music is played.

Coincidentally, I just got some progress pictures of the first gloss coat on this Torified Sitka and Amazon Rosewood Dryad,

Thanks Treenewt! It is exciting. I can tell a lot from just tapping the top and so far so good!

Thanks rule18, I wouldn't say it is a showy guitar. It has more of a subdued look. However, when you look closer there is a lot going on. It's all in the details with the silking in the top, the Red Jasper stone rosette, the coruscating gold flecks in the Desert Ironwood fretboard, the Ironwood burled
headstock, the depth of color in the quartered Amazon Rosewood, and details in the German Scheller tuners.

Thanks Paul! We'll see if we can capture some of that RAWKS with the sound samples!

Maybe I'll get a glimpse ( and ideas?) next week... ;-)

I'm planning to install the Gold Evo frets this week and get the Scheller tuners in. It should be strung up by the end of next week.

This is my favorite model of yours, Mark. Too bad one of these won’t be at BIG this year! If I were in a position to order a guitar, this is the one. Love what you’re doing these days.

Thanks Mike, I'm sorry I couldn't make it out to BIG this year too. A dreadnought really is it's own animal which is partly why I thought I should bring one back into my offerings. My last two new models were on the small side, it was time to round it out with a big boy.

I'm looking forward to hearing this guitar too. I'll get a sound sample for it as soon as possible. I also need a sample for my website. Currently my site just has a "coming soon" notice for this model.

I very much enjoy following this build Mark, being a Dreadnought guy to the core myself. I'm so impressed with your website design as well & found it a real treat. Well done. You are to be commended on your dedication to the guitar.
