Thanks everyone for all the tips and suggestions.
BTW, since my questions had nothing to do with performing, is "Open Mic" where threads are sent to die? JK.

I’m very happy with ForScore.
I’m also leery of EVERYTHING digital, having seen hardware and software come and go for 4 decades now. Every new system - both hardware and software - becomes more expensive, more time consuming, more complicated. And suddenly the enormous time spent learning and becoming proficient with the old system is worthless, and seems to have been time wasted. We had a computer on my Navy ship back in the 80s that passed every diagnostic test, but still crashed when it was overwhelmed by real life usage. The Navy and the civilian companies that made both the hardware and the software could never figure it out. I have seen several military and civilian electronic medical records systems crash and burn. Electronic health records are great in theory, but they suck up billions of dollars and way too much time from healthcare workers. They are NOT user friendly, cumbersome, slow, crash too much, lose data. I invested a lot of time and money scanning a large part of my sheet music and music books into PDFs to put into iBooks on my iPad2 back in 2011. A few years later an IOS update wiped out the whole collection. Fortunately, I had a lot of it backed up onto an iMac, but because of the changes in Software over the years it was impossible to restore the music library back to the iPad, even after many many hours of trying with Apple reps all the way up to the senior tech support person. Rant over. I like ForScore. I also have my PDFs on an iMac and on Dropbox. I still expect system failure eventually. Last edited by ceciltguitar; 08-16-2020 at 07:35 PM. |

MusicReader
I use a program called Musicreader and have over 7000 pieces on it. You can look up pieces by composer or title. You can make playlists. It costs but has a free trial period.

Forscore, for better or worse. It is the only one I have ever used. Using it is easy. Putting stuff in, not so easy. Cumbersome is the word I'd choose. If there's an easier way, I'd love to discover it. Right now, it's what I am doing for "fun" this summer... and also next Fall. I try to get 50 a day.

OnSong
Easy to move files to, it backs up to Dropbox, and really easy to transpose if playing with others. Very happy with it. |

No, it is a different app. I have Setlist on my iPad and absolutely prefer it over SetlistMaker, which my wife uses.
