From no electric two months ago to two Gretsches
So a few months ago I got a wild hair and decided it was time to delve into the electric arena. I went with A Gretsch 5622 which is a semi hollow and I got one with no tremolo because I didn’t Feel I needed one. I feel I made a great choice,I’m thoroughly enjoy it.
I’ve since decided it would be fun to have a second electric for different tunings. That’s my rationale anyway. I bought a decent low priced solid body and it just sounded too thin compared to my Gretsch. So I sent that back and did a little more research. I decided to spend more than I should and ordered an orange Gretsch G5420T hollow body. When I realized that model is still made in Korea I thought I should act on it( Although my made in China 5622 is great). I figure between the much different body depth, different pick ups and center block v.s. hollow body they should be different enough to justify having both. Thursday can’t get here fast enough. Jim

Definitely worth keeping both, and here's a post from a fellow AGF'er who got his a couple weeks ago - and loving every minute of it:
https://www.acousticguitarforum.com/...d.php?t=619322 BTW I don't know what you paid for your 5622, but you might find this of interest (Korean-made, only produced for about two years - and FWIW the seller's open to offers if you're so inclined): https://reverb.com/item/41122017-gre...ic-g5622t-2016

Wow i’m glad i ordered the guitar from Sweetwater on Saturday. At the time they had three orange ones in stock. Now they are sold out of all three colors.

I'm mainly an acoustic player, I do a lot of fingerpicking. But when it comes to electrics, I always have gravitated toward Gretsch. I like my 6122, but don't find that it sounds great when I fingerpick. I'm changing out the bridge from a rocking bar to an adjustomatic, thought that might help the intonation. But beyond that, I wondered if a center block might help make the notes more stable and clear? Maybe not. I'm not sure.
Anyway, there's a 5622 on sale locally that I'm considering.

I sold a Les Paul and an 30’s Gibson L4 with a P90 and got a ’67 Gretsch 6120 Nashville, when I was looking for a better roots music hollow body electric. It is the most satisfying electric guitar for me, though I kept my Tele.
For ease of playing and a unique sound that (for me) works perfectly in any roots or Americana situation, it is hard to beat a Gretsch. If I had to limit myself to two guitars, they would be a rosewood Martin OM and a hollow body Filter’tron Gretsch, whether vintage or modern (I don’t think makes much difference). These guitars are fantastic for fingerpicking. They are the perfect electric for the acoustic player, in my opinion.
