Ooof that President job is a mouthful. I'd opt for the second shift production spot instead.

Looks like he should have said he was stepping up.

If I apply for the job and get it, does this mean I can decide what the CEO-15 will be?

I don't believe I saw that capability in the write-up, so I would guess no.

Resume sent. If I get the gig, I'm immediately ceasing all wood usage and switching exclusively to carbon fiber.

What would be surprising is if they selected someone who is a virtuoso, instead of someone who can't play. Because, you know, then they would get the respect they crave but do not seek logically.

I don’t think the Martin Guitar Company needs to crave respect. They started this whole thing.

Nowhere in the requirements does it state anything about experience in any phase of the music industry: manufacture/design, sales/marketing, even pro-level recording/live performance, all of which would require intimate familiarity with the product - and don't even get me started on lutherie-skills training/experience...
When the hand at the helm lacks an intrinsic, vested interest beyond mere status and compensation/profit the final product - whatever it may be - first loses its soul, then its quality... Those of us in the guitar world are well-acquainted with the historic examples - mention Norlin/CBS (among others) in any gathering and watch the expressions of well-deserved disdain - and, however incremental the moves, I've seen this coming at CFM IV & Co. for the last 20-25 years, and in just this manner; there's also the question of the massive, recently-built warehouse facility - which, as I understand, far exceeds either current or projected production capacity... There's no question they could still build high-quality instruments, to their traditional standard, if they so choose - the recent Authentics are the proof... Frankly, I'd hang on to any pre-1990 Martin in my possession and keep it in as clean a condition as possible - I've got a gut feeling prices of 20th-Century Nazareth-built Martins are going to go through. the. roof. ... Big changes, indeed; IMO the Martin company of 2033 will be such in name only. bearing little if any connection to its first 150 years - I'll just leave it at that...
