Default Froggy Bottom - Medium Strings?

I realize that this will be a small sample, but I thought I would give it a shot.

Any froggy owners out there who have put mediums on their guitars? I understand that this would be applicable to guitars larger than the H model.

I own an SJ. It came new with lights and sounds great with lights, but I was wondering if any SJ owners have put mediums on, and what their experience was like.

Thanks

I used to own a Froggy SJ and I used mediums on mine and I thought it sounded best this way. The combo of large body and short scale with the thicker Adi top was a match made in heaven for Medium strings.

Dano,

Congrats on your SJ!

I've had my SJ for 5 years now and have always used lights, per Michael at FB. He said it would be good with mediums but the action would need to be tweaked. I'd call them to be sure on yours.

Did adjusting the action help and allow you to sue mediums strings to your liking?

My K plays like a resonant and lovely beats with lights but stiffens up considerably with mediums. It almost seems like tow different guitars.

You may want to try the SCGC mid-tension strings, which will you give you the bigger gauge while having less overall tension than traditional medium gauge strings.

I usually use medium gauge treble strings with light bass strings - a suggestion from Michael himself- on my Froggy Bottom F and K models.

I used a set of SP mediums a few weeks ago on my SJ for the first time and am very pleased no tweaks were needed and really enjoy the “richer” quality of the sound. I decided to go with the scientific method, meaning I could only find a set of mediums and did not want to go buy some lights 😁

I've used Newtone Masterclass 13-56 frequently on an F. No worries. I like them.
