I’m the same I guess. I give my guitars a wipe down when I finish playing and they get a cleaning and polish after each string change. I won’t be a Pre-War Guitar prospect, don’t like the “distressed” look at all.

There is an old saying in the car enthusiast business:

If you can get out of your car and walk away from it without turning around at least once to look at it......you bought the wrong car.

I had a Honda V-45 Sabre in 1984, the first year they made them, and parked it so while eating at a restaurant I could stare at it through the window.

To the OP: Yes, I always give my guitars, especially the 814ce, a good gaze before casing them. As others have stated, guitars are a work of art.

I love my new Furch and I’ll catch myself kind of caressing it a bit (no way to write that sentence without it sounding weird LOL)

It’s just a fine looking and feeling guitar.

OP you need a room humidifier so you can leave them out on stands instead of hiding them away in their cases.
.... and some mood lighting.

I bought the right car then!

I don't always value form above function, but I am much more forgiving of beautiful things. I will often keep an average sounding guitar that I like the look of longer than a good sounding guitar that I don't.

I could stare at a beautiful guitar for ages, much like a nice painting. A well crafted guitar is a work of art. Even ones battered and worn retain their beauty.

I'd love to but Canadian winters here are just too harsh to consistently maintain appropriate humidity during heating season (Oct. to May) even with the right humidifier. Plus with all 4 if us home and working due to you-know-what I have no dedicated space for it.

I’m a very visual person and while I would not buy a guitar based on looks, I love the look of all of my guitars - always get pleasure out of seeing them out in their stands. And, as far as being strange goes, well, I have felt strange since as far back as I can remember!! : - )
Best,
Jayne

Default Am I strange? Admiring your guitars after playing them

Not strange, but not healthy either.
I got a nice classical when I was 18. A beautiful cedar/rosewood. 50 years later I still think it is a work of art. I remember playing and looking and sort of idolizing. Today I know making too much of any material thing is not good. So yeah it is still a beauty and I love to play it and look at the grain...but i know it is still just a guitar.

I also enjoy just Listening to one chord after I finish playing. Especially on my Tacoma Orpheum. I may play a G Or a C and not a strum, but a simultaneous pluck of 4 strings with my fingernails. It is wonderful to let that sound just sort of wash you with the resonance.
Ok...enough weird grandpa stories for one night!

I appreciate all the aforementioned personal confessions to which I can relate. I will be cancelling all future sessions with my therapist.

Nope. I marvel at the beauty of my guitars before and after playing them (and I marvel at their tone while playing them).

Late to the party as usual, but I'll do my humidifier sponge wetting routine for all my guitars and I'll strum the guitar while it sits in its case. If its a guitar I haven't played in a while my reaction is usually "Why haven't I played this? It sounds great."

I need more hours in a day.
