Turning up the heat on a Friday night with Wes Montgomery and friends. I highly recommend this album to anyone curious about starting a jazz record collection.

Since it arrived in the post this week, "Stripped" by Wilson & Wakeman, aka Damian Wilson (Rick Wakeman, Landmarq, Threshold, Headspace & Les Miserables) and Adam Wakeman (Rick Wakeman, Headspace, Ozzy Osbourne & Black Sabbath). All recorded live over 4 hours one morning after their last tour.

Grant Green: Green Street
Grant Green, guitar
Ben Tucker, bass
Dave Bailey, drums
from April 1, 1961

The jazz instrumental trio affords a close listen to the soloist, as well as clarity to those who love drum and bass.

Wow, thanks for that reminder. I bought this a long time ago and I’m sure I still have the LP somewhere. But I just pulled it up on my Amazon music unlimited and all I can say is Grant Green and Rudy Van Gelder, what a sound. Thanks again!

He plays a different guitar built by a different Australian luthier on each track.

I can’t get off the Billy Strings bus right now. He’s just paving his way into the history books.

John Coltrane: Giant Steps (c.1960)
Atlantic Records

It may take giant steps to get from my front door to the mail box if the snow doesn’t stop piling up around here.

This is a huge piece of work for Coltrane who would continue to record almost non stop and reach a popular breakthrough with the follow up smash LP _My Favourite Things_ which I believe dates from 1961.
