Default Warm Strings

Can anyone recommend full, warm sounding acoustic guitar strings that retain their tension. I tried Thomastiks Classic S. The top strings are nylon wound so sound very warm, but the bass strings don't have enough tension for me. I currently use Elixirs Polywebs which are OK, but I have an off-centre sound hole so they sound a little brittle especially when recording. Do silk and steel retain tension?

John Pearse phosphorous bronze. I use medium gauge on my old j-50. When you hear it it feels like you just put on a comfy coat.

What guitar are you using?

I've never had any tension problems with La Bella Silk & Steels or GHS Silk & Bronze or John Pearse Silk & Bronze.
Those 3 might be worth trying.

Give D'Addario flat top EFT16 PB light strings a try. They have a nice played in tone right out of the pack. They may, or may not, work on your particular guitar. I certainly don't use them on all mine.

I find Martin SP's to be mostly warm.

John Pearse New Medium PB's are my fav and very warm... but even warmer are Dunlop PB's, in fact they are too warm for me, but very well made.

Another vote for John Pearse PB's.

Warmth, and decent string life. Old Gibsons love these strings.

Have Santa Cruz Parabolic tension strings on three of my acoustics. Mediums on my Martins, and lights on my Taylor.
I love them.

The guitar is a Martin Keith custom used purely for jazz and an EMG floating pickup thru a AER amp. I'm used to tension in my strings, which I personally find better for single line playing.

I checked these out the other day. I use flatwounds for my jazz box so was intrigued there was something called a flat top for an acoustic. I assume these are something of a hybrid between a flatwound and the more commonly used acoustic string.
