I'd Love to Change the World.

One of my acoustic guitar intros.

Still not at tempo yet.

Not even trying to approximate the solo, though. I have enough trouble with moderate speed, never mind "Alvin Lee speed." Maybe work up something that sounds good in there that I can actually play.

I always put off learning Christmas season songs until it;s too late to pay them. This year I learned, still late, Hugh Prestwood's "Upon A Christmas Eve" and "This Time Of Year" by Richard Leigh & Peter McCann, both as played by the great Michael Johnson.

Latest is Mose Allison's "Your Mind Is On Vacation"... nice bluesey addition that moves along nicely... and an older song of mine (from the 80's!), "The Ways Of Love"; I played this one at my last gig and realized that I had NEVER played it live for an audience before!

Most of what I've been doing is staying "up to date" with what I already know and play... I must have three hundred songs on my songlist from which to choose, so I try to stay current with them, to allow me the freedom to pick and choose as I am wanting...

These all include blues, rock, folk, singer/songwriter, songs of friends, jazz standards and original tunes... so it's a delightfully eclectic mix to work with!

I've really gotten into bluegrass & traditional flatpicking in the last year so Big Sciota, Whiskey Before Breakfast (C and D versions), and various Tony Rice & Billy Strings have been on the docket recently.

I'm also working on an acoustic instrumental version of Mozart's Duet Sull'aria from the Marriage of Figaro. A very interesting experience. I think Bb is the most guitar-unfriendly key I've ever played in, and that's even with the guitar tuned to open Bb lol

When I first started playing 14 years ago, all I wanted was to be able to play like Lyle Lovett. I still want to. :-)
