They are a lot of fun - and Michigan boys to boot! Hope you enjoyed it!

Third time I’ve seen them, bigger venues each time. I tell you what, they’ve gone from 5 guys ripping bluegrass to a polished, festival headliner must see band. They are now starting to get into the String Cheese realm of special. |

I saw them not too long ago in Phoenix. A couple of years ago, I would have said GSBG are my favorite bluegrass (-ish) band, and I have seen them several times now. During their last concert, I started to feel a slight fatigue. The endless noodling on a dobro run through a bunch of pedals was super-cool at some point, but it's starting to wear out, at least in my perception. I wish they'd dial back a little on the (supposedly) flashy stuff and get back to the "less-polished-ripping-bluegrass" vibe a little more. Their recent (over-)adoption of an effect that a more knowledgeable friend explained to me as "auto-wah" makes me cringe each time they stomp on that switch.
