All done!
Very pleased with results.
As expected the Walnut/Alpine has warmer, complex tone with very good sustain, while the Santos RW/Sitka has a more fundamental tone and well defined bass.
Personally I edge towards a more fundamental tone as i think it has more versatility.

The Walnut guitar will be delivered to its owner in London next week. As we discussed the build it became clear he was looking for something more on warm/sustain end of the spectrum so I'm looking forward to hearing his thoughts.

I'll be starting 2019 with some Cedar topped guitars. There'll be mahogany, walnut, Indian rosewood and Exotic Green Ebony back and sides. Looking forward to getting started on those!

Congrats, they both look lovely. I really like your bound sound hole!

Thanks!
Yes I'm a fan of the bound soundhole too, i think it gives a 'Solid' look to the guitar.
It also has the function of strengthening the area and covers a double thickness piece of soundboard that also borders the sound hole for strength

I normally try to choose a wood that will tie the aesthetic of the soundboard, back and sides or fingerboard all together....Try to make it look like one unit. In general I avoid using lots of different woods on one guitar.
