Default Anyone have a Fender Mustang P90? Curious on thoughts

I have one inbound from Sweetwater so I'll be able to form my own opinion soon. Just wondering what others here think of them. I picked the seafoam green one mainly because it has the maple fretboard.

Good call.
I don’t own one, but I would love to.
Very versatile guitars especially with P 90’s.

Is it like these?

Improbably changing the pickup covers, switch and controls to cream or white.
That’s just me.

That is one cool little guitar - with the short scale for speed and P-90's for drive this could be the ultimate grab-&-go instrument, and if I didn't already have one in that category (a MIJ Yamaha SSC-500 I've had for 40 years) I'd be on the horn with Sweetwater right now...

That’s exactly what it is. I still haven’t received it yet! Shipping screw up and Fed ex returned to shipper. Very aggravating. Anyway it’s due Tuesday. As Steve said I think this will be a great grab and go guitar. Looking forward to the short scale and P90’s.

Suggestion:
When professional-quality short-scale electrics - Gibson Byrdland, Rickenbacker 320/325, et al. - were developed in the 1950's, it was with the intention that then-cutting-edge techniques (deep bends, widely-spaced chord voicings, fast multiple-octave runs) would be easier with the relatively heavy strings of their day (bear in mind flatwound 12's were considered "light gauge" into the late-60's, and were standard issue on electrics for another decade thereafter); that said, if you're used to playing an acoustic - or even a 25-1/2" scale electric (think Strat/Tele) with 10's - you might find them a little too loose and rubbery-feeling on the 24" scale Mustang (not to mention the wonky-sounding plain G, intended to facilitate bending on a long-scale guitar). You might want to consider moving up to a set of wound-G 11's from the get-go - D'Addario EXL115W if you want to stay with roundwounds, ECG24 Chromes if you want the flatwound sound/feel - and go with 12's (EJ21 round or ECG25 flats) if you want some extra vibrating mass to drive the pickups harder (and get some body resonance into your tone)...

Use it well, often, and LOUD - looking forward to the AGF-mandatory NGD review...

Yeah I plan on using some 10.5 and 11’s sets I have on hand. None have a wound G though. I’ll have to get a set. Thanks

I'd second that reccomendation. I think heavyer strings make the tuning stability better on a shorter scale guitar... but I find that the heavyer you go, the more finicky an unwound G string becomes. Once uppon a time I liked to use Dean Markley Jazz strings (13's IIRC) on my Les Paul, the sets came with both a plain and a wound G... I could never get the LP to work with those heavy unwound G strings.

And P90's... I love em'. I generally dont use the neck pickup a whole lot on most of my guitars, but a neck p90 with the volume rolled back to about 8 and some bluesy OD sounds absolutely amazing. The bridge with a fair bit of gain and a Tube Screamer boost can get absolutely brutal. My go to sound is in the middle position with the bridge pickup dimed, and the neck rolled in just enough to add a bit of a darker bottom end, for this reason if I ever owned a Fender P90 guitar I think I would get it wired so that the volume pot only controlled the neck PU, and the tone pot only controlling the bridge PU.
