Yup. I have one of the old original ones that go used for around $100 or so. Mine is the larger one that has been discontinued.

I have read postings of others who have installed K&K's in T5z's and had been happy with the results. I suspect it would be hard to do as well as an Acoustasonic with a DIY approach using a UST and an IR (Aura, IR loader, etc.). I've got to believe that Fishman and Fender with all their resources are going to top anything we could cook up using readily available technology.

The advantage to a passive K&K is it is passive. You might not get all the way to a Fender Acoustasonic, but it won't need a battery. Both the T5z preamp (in my opinion a bad design decision to use four dual low noise opamps instead of a few FETs) and the Acoustasonic will use up a 9v battery (or equivalent rechargeable LiIon) pretty quickly.

Thanks for the helpful response. So you'd go K&K Mini if you had to choose? Could I run that simultaneously with the 1st position on the built in pickups?
