Heh, that must be the alpha wolf

Can this phenomenon also lead to a parasite sound that makes you think something is a little loose somewhere and vibrates just after the initial attack (not unlike fretbuzz)?

Sounds like you have a different phenomenon happening RJ ... doesn't sound like an admitance problem to me.

Wow--that is really stunning, David!

Looking forward to seeing the endgraft put into place.

Great stuff!

That's what I feared. Curious thing is that I'm not getting it when I play the same not on a lower string, so it doesn't seem likely that it's indeed something loose either. Just crossing my fingers it's the string itself (an Aquila Rubino "loaded" nylgut).

That guitar is coming along nicely!

Maybe after you pluck the offending note, take your pick hand and touch/dampen the string behind where you've fretted it to see if it's a back buzz (i.e. the nut's a touch too low or a fret behind is too high). Just a thought.

Thanks, somehow I didn't think of that yet; it's not at all impossible given how it doesn't happen when I play more softly. Stopping the string at the underlying frets should work too (and given where it happens should allow to exclude buzz at the nut too).

I don't remember: is this guitar going to have a soundport, or is that opening on the shoulder for onboard electronics?

Hey RJ ... yep ... a sound port. I've loved the sound port since I first saw Sergei de Jonge do it decades ago.
