80/20 string choice help
Hello all; I'm looking for some input on choosing round core 80/20 strings for my D28.
Currently it has Martin Authentic 80/20 in medium (0.013") gauge. I love the sound of 80/20 compared to PB. But I am interested in trying round core, compared to hex core (which is what the Martin strings are). What are some good 0.013 gauge round core 80/20 strings I can get for this guitar, that will not require adjusting the setup or intonation? |

Off the top of my head, the only manufacturer making 80/20 in a round core set is Newtone. Great strings but ordering direct (from the UK) is the cheapest route. You can find US dealers but the prices are so high that it's cheaper direct even after S&H. Hopefully others will chime in if I'm missing dealers/manufacturers.
Has taken up to 3 weeks to get strings from them but at least you are informed if you go that route. They also make custom sets https://newtonestrings.com/ Happy playing!

My favorite 80/20 strings thus far have been From John Pearse. I don’t believe they are round core, but they sound great to my ear.

All of my instruments are strung with John Pearse strings, with about a third of them getting 80/20 strings. They’re not suited for all instruments, but on many of them 80/20’s are absolutely the best choice. whm |

Curt Mangan makes round core 80/20’s, I’m using them right now on my J35. Excellent strings.

Update - the Curt Mangan round cores ended up being exactly what I was looking for. More sustain and balanced high end
