so the original poster was talking about
IR through his helix. Are there not programs
that you can download to the helix that
people have built for helix sort of like what
you can get for the HOF reverb? So he could
get an acoustic guitar program from somewhere
to download into the helix that has all the settings for acoustic,
I think they call them patches?? Are these
different than IR.?

Yes I got a Martin D45 IR from 3simga and installed it in my Helix. My Taylor 714 with ES2 sounds great with it, I’m impressed. I’m curious what the best location in my chain would be.

Comp - preamp - EQ - mod - verb.

I initially put it before EQ, but it could be sooner.

That would be called modelling

The FIR filters are not modelled. They are capture of the acoustic guitar tone.

To make it clear, here is an example with cab speaker simulator (for electric guitar)

1) a Hughes&Kettner Redbox models a speakers with an analog circuit. Neunaber iconoclast is a digital cab modeling

2) Torpedo CAB, Logidy EPSI, Radar mooer are IR host pedal. You can load a wav file that is a "capture" of a real speaker.

Note that Neunaber Iconoclast lets you load a wave file and then let you adjust the pots so the Neunaber give a response as close as possible to the "real capture"

I would put it first in the chain

So would what Rshultz bought from 3sigma be an actual
IR of a d45 or is it a modeling patch for helix?

They are simply .wav files, not Helix patches. Helix has an IR loader that reads in the .wav file and processes it.
