Thumbs up For Sale or Trade: Mint 2011 Santa Cruz F with 100 year old Sitka/Coco TRADED

For sale or trade is my pristine Santa Cruz model F. This guitar was custom ordered from Santa Cruz. The top is made from 100+-year-old master grade Sitka spruce. To my knowledge this wood is no longer available. I do have documentation from Santa Cruz about this wood grain. The back and sides are master grade Cocobolo, bindings are Koa. These were the finest materials available at time of manufacture (2011) and this guitar sounds magnificent and plays like a dream. The best descriptor I've heard for the wood is "prehistoric" looking. There are no words to adequately describe its tone here, so I will not try; you will be blown away. It is in pristine condition with no issues. This instrument has not undergone any repair, has no pickup, and has been kept humidified for its entire life.

Here are all the specs and custom alterations from SCGC:

Body Wood Type Indian Rosewood (upgraded to Coco)
Back Stripe S29
Binding Ivoroid (upgraded to koa)
Top Wood Type Sitka Spruce (upgraded to 100 year old Sitka)
Rosette Purfle Combo
Purfling Purfle Combo
Bracing/Voicing Tapered
Neck Peghead Solid F Style
Peghead Binding I/I/I
Overlay Material Ebony
Headstock Inlay SCGC (upgraded to Abalone)
Width at Nut 1-3/4
Neck Shape Custom Round
Fingerboard Side Dots Black (upgraded to Abalone)
Inlay 2mm dots (upgraded to Abalone)
Width at 14th Fret 2-3/16
Binding I/B/I
Scale Length 25.375
Finish Top Clear
Back & Sides Clear/Buffed
Neck Clear/Buffed
Setup Pickguard Tortoise
Tuners/gears Chrome Gotoh Chrome 510 (upgraded to Gold Gotoh 510s with Coco buttons)

This is the pinnacle of the Santa Cruz F series, and is in impeccable condition. New this guitar cost ~$12,000. Comes with original Santa Cruz case, also in mint condition.

I will accept local pickups (I'm in NC) or ship to the United States.

This is a very rare find and I will certainly miss it, but circumstances dictate a change. Whoever ends up with this will be getting an instrument which totally changes your relationship with the guitar.

Please let me know if you have any questions or any other correspondence. Please also feel free to suggest any offers/trades for other high end acoustics, particularly if you are local. I have my eye on a Rockbridge, either an SJ or OO or OOO, so if you have one of those to trade I'd be especially interested.

Price: TRADED
I accept paypal F&F.

I had a custom Santa Cruz RS built from this same stock of 100 year old Sitka and it was a very special instrument. Good luck with your sale.

Thanks so much. It really is a gorgeous wood, and adds so much tone. Much of the value of this guitar derives from it, and I can see (and hear!) why...

Thanks, y'all. It really is a stunner. I have loved playing this, and completely agree with you Orfeas - whoever ends up with this will be incredibly grateful they went for it.

I had a Goodall once with a 100 year old big goose top. It looked very similar to this with more of a honey orange hue to it with Amber ‘flakes’ in it. Wonder if it is a similar type of top to what you have here.

That sounded absolutely spectacular and I have no doubt this SC sounds as good if not better. Beautiful guit!

Stunning instrument from my favorite builder on Earth. If it was short scale, I’d be soooo tempted...

Beautiful guitar! SCGC is awesome and they nail it with Cocobolo. I’m sure this one is outstanding.

Thanks for the kind words, y'all! She really is something to behold, such a rare gem.

I believe I have a line on a Rockbridge, but would ideally sell this one before making a move on it. So if anyone is interested in a purchase soon (i.e. within the next day or so), I could probably let it go for slightly below asking price/market value just so I don't miss out. Feel free to PM with offers!

I've gotten a lot of PMs asking for specs, so I just updated the OP to include them, along with the custom upgrades. Thanks for the questions/interest!
