You can't go wrong with a K&k mini. Very authentic sound to guitar and unintrusive.

thanks for the quick response. Done a bit of research to date, the K&K mini gets good reviews. I was also looking at the LR Baggs Element & Fishman Infinity Matrix. I have very little experience on this subject.

Used to use K and K but started to use Trance Amulet M a couple of years ago, same kind of tone but I find them a little more resistant to feedback.
Amps depending in your budget, reasonable pricing the Fishman Loudbox is very popular, bigger budget the AER 60 is an amp people have had a lot of success with. https://youtu.be/5Wb4yip88Sw

Advice on Pick-Up & Acoustic Amp
You can’t go wrong with K&K. They offer passive and active models, just pick the opinion you like. The Fishman Loudbox line is the best. Again select which model that fits your needs. Their only negative is their crappy tolex. With no effort you can shred it in no time.

Here is a demo Video I made yesterday with a few different acoustic Pickups. LR Baggs Anthem, K&K Pure Western Mini (PWM) and Fishman aura VT enhance.

I had always been a little sceptical of the K&K Pure Mini - on the forum it had always seemed to me like there was a brainwashing thing going on! They get such unqualified praise. Then a few weeks ago I got a new guitar with a K&K installed. Plugged it into my rig (bodyrez, Baggs Venue, Specular Tempus reverb/delay pedal), and it blew me away. I had always been a magnetic soundhole pick up advocate (have been working with that in my Gibson Dove for many years), but the K&K converted me...
If you can stretch to it, go for a Fishman Loudbox Artist instead of Mini. Better tone, more tone-shaping options. |

FYI, it looks like Larrivee chooses the LR Baggs iMix when they install a factory pickup in your model, so that might be worth considering.

i have kk in two guitars. they sound great
but need a pre and eq. which you get from an amp. I also use a sunrise mag pup. in my gigging guitar. (71 martin d28s). I find the sunrise requires less fussing to dial in every time i gig out. It doesn't sound as "pure" as the kk but its close enough. if you play a lot of open mics, your at the mercy of whatever equip the host brings.youll find the mag pups will do better than kk unless you drag a bag of outboard gear with you. if you can take your new pickup equipped guitar to a store to try out an amp i would do that before buying. I tried three of fishmans offerings with my kk equipped martin. the mini, artist, and professional. I thought the mini sounded the best of all. and it's cheaper. I eventually bought an aer compact 60 ..Hands down a better choice. But you get what you pa for. |
