builders question
Well, here's the silly question of the day for builders.
What do you think about IER being used as a wood for bracing? I'm guessing no because its not as stiff and light as an addy or sitka brace. What effects on tone or construction integrity would EIR bracing have on a dread shaped guitar? Thanks in advance Mike

My goal for bracing is to be light, with the correct stiffness. As you've said, Rosewood would add alot of weight to get the desired stiffness. This would make the guitar alot less responsive, and probably muddy sounding. I've seen builders (AGF Sponsor Haans for one) use laminated Spruce/Rosewood/Spruce bracing. Haans' guitars sound great, but it's not something I'd want to attempt.

Not sure why you would do that. It is way too heavy. Bracing is a way to make the guitar lighter while still supporting the pull of the strings.
