Sad news and this is one of the reasons that dealing with reputable luthiers is so important. Michael is doing what he can to take care of one of his customers despite something that is out of his control. My experience of Heritage is that they will do a stellar job as well. It is so unfortunate that these things happen but life is always throwing us curve balls. Even though it will take longer, you will still get an amazing guitar.

Best,
Jayne

I have no words - except that it IS still possible that it shows up somewhere.

I shipped a pair of PA speakers to a forum member in Chicago (north suburbs) about 10 years ago and they "disappeared" for a month.

Then magically re-appeared and were delivered.

Don't give up hope quite yet.

What a gut punch that must have been.

I'm sorry for your situation; i know from recent experience that it is pretty frustrating and stressful. Twice in the past year with guitars, one as the shipper and one as the recipient, they disappeared for weeks and then with no tracking updates showed "on vehicle for delivery" and then delivered in good condition. The biggest frustration in both cases was the lack of transparency or communication from the carriers. Fingers crossed that it shows up in good condition soon!

Sorry to learn about this. Like all other posters, I'm cheering the reappearance of the guitar.

This said, some years ago, my favorite luthier, Kim Walker, shipped a guitar that disappeared mid-transit ... never to reappear.

Please keep us posted.

My heartfelt sympathies - what a senseless loss of a precious instrument.

I'll share here that new technology, such as Apple's AirTags, can provide a direct fix on current location of a "lost" package. A prior thread on this is here:
https://www.acousticguitarforum.com/...d.php?t=616896

If the guitar is destroyed, the location doesn't matter of course - but if it's presumed lost yet still exists, this $29 device can locate it. I haven't tested it, but it seems worth trying (and a worthy investment for shipping a new Greenfield!). Perhaps this approach might save a future guitar from a shipping mishap...

I hope your situation comes out well in the end!

I keep checking in on this thread hoping for the OP to have chimed in to tell us the guitar has been found and is being delivered. My fingers are crossed for you.

This story is heartbreaking, even more so after listening to a Greenfield demo on the Guitar Gallery site!

Given the claim it was "damaged" and not "lost" ... until the shipper can produce splinters I will continue to believe it will show up intact.

Reviving this old thread because I realized that I never provided updates. The guitar was indeed deemed unsalvageable and was discarded accordingly. Our best hypothesis is that days of bad storms resulted in a massive backlog of unprocessed parcels. These piled up quickly in the warehouse and a series of stacked shipping containers fell over, crushing everything underneath. Everything was considered wreckage. Trash, essentially.

So, here we are about a year later and I’ll be visiting the Greenfield workshop in person on Friday to meet Michael and pick up my replacement G4. It’s been a long wait, certainly, but I am quite excited! Stay tuned for a new thread!

A total tragedy, but thankfully the guitar will be replaced soon. Let us know how it turns out. Coincidentally, UPS just lost a guitar that was built for me.

CC is right, again!!!

I have used the Apple Air Tags twice now as a result of the above thread. Nice to know where the axe actually is, rather than “In Shipment’

Glad you have finally got the replacement coming!!! Yay

Wow, offering a free replacement is really, really generous.
