Default D'Addario Flat Top PB Lights

Just put these on my Taylor AD17e and I DO like how they the sound.
Just a tad brighter than the DR Sunbeams it replaced and the low E sounds better.

But, I am not impressed with the claim of reduced finger noise due to the smoother surface. To me, they have more finger noise than the sunbeams they replaced, but then again the Sunbeams were about 6 weeks old. Maybe this is because they are new?

Anyway, not impressed with that claim just yet:

A D’Addario innovation, these strings are softly flattened, offering a smoother feel and quieter playing experience. Flat Tops are excellent for recording, since the design eliminates finger noise, while still maintaining the beloved phosphor bronze tone.

I also tried D'Addario Flats, thinking they would be like flat wound strings.
I agree with you, I didn't notice any significant reduction in string noise either.

If you're interested in no string noise, I recommend Magma Flat Phosphor Bronze.
I've been using the 10 - 48 string set (GA120PBF) and I'm very impressed.
They are polished very smooth, no rough feel, no string noise.

I got my Magma from
https://magmastoreusa.com/collections/acoustic-flat-pb
and I notice Strings By Mail has started to stock them now.

+1 on the Magma flat PBs. I use mediums (12-54) on my HD-28V and I get zero string squeak. I like the sound and they last for months!

Thanks all!

Just ordered a medium set from magma.
They have a strange sizing label, I wanted 12s, so ordered the mediums which other string manufacturers usually specify as 13s.

Was going to go through amazon, but the product description of light, doesn't align with the pic which shows the 12-54 medium sizing. So I'm not sure what would arrive:
