Default Do you HATE Chorus on acoustic guitar?

Compression or chorus? I don't generally like either one, but the Align chorus is pretty nice!

Not a huge fan of "chorus", but there were a few settings in there where it sounded a bit like a 12-string guitar . . . so might be useful for emulating that rather than having a 12-string guitar with you.

I have the Align Session pedal, and like the 'saturation' effect. And their 'compression' (not really a compressor like one normally thinks of it) does a great job, too.

I think a pedalboard with all the Align pedals would be kinda cool . . . but it would need to be wood (to match).

I'm not a fan of any fx on acoustic instruments -apart from maybe some reverb - turn it on until you can just hear it then back one notch.

I have the Session DI and agree on the saturation/compression features. It is my favorite DI I've used to date. The way Baggs built the compression is genius IMO- gives you squeeze and tames transients when you are driving the top hard while giving you a boost in dynamics when playing fingerstyle or more quietly in general. That alone is worth the price of admission.

....or go to the loo. Can't turn it back a notch there though.

BTW, we may not like playing through effects but it's kind of an unfair question really. How many recordings have we heard using heavy effect that sound really good? Can you imagine Prince's Purple Rain without chorus?

Chorus is kind of lost on me since I lost my hearing on one side. I remember liking it before, but now it just sounds like weird phase mangling.

I use all sorts of fx in my
band with acoustic guitar.
Including distortion and amp
Cab simulations. Guess I'm no purist.
My band is not polite. If they dont
Like something they let me know.
That said it's all a matter of amount.
And too much is always too much.
Chorus is no exception. But in the right place
It's as useful as reverb or delay.
It has no place in tradgrass . Or other
Genres where it doesnt belong.
But that's a small subset of acoustic
Music. Aaron as usual great job..

I don't remember the exact quote, but when asked about how he liked chorus Leo Kottke said he became addicted to it for a time and 'it almost ruined my career'.

When plugged in I often like the sound of my BOSS CH-1 Super Chorus with my vintage BOSS DM-2 Analog Delay in FRONT of it.

My acoustics use K&K Pure Mini pups.

Im not a fan of chorus, only because it triggers flashbacks to very poorly arranged guitar mass versions of Catholic hymns best played on pipe organ. 5 poorly amped guitars strummed in unison in a huge church sounded....well....God Awful!!!

My Loudbox Mini has chorus which I use on a few songs. It is rather subtle. Reverb is on all the time. I love my Mel9.
