Default Bend at 4 big or 5 little? Drifting Blues intro.

I am learning the Clapton take on Drifting Blues, and here is a guy with a nice intro. Take a look. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BP_6hh7UuzE&loop=0

He has it tabbed out and I want to know your thoughts on the note he hits at the 12 second mark, bending the D string at fret 5, a little quick quarter bend.

I've short stubbies like this guy, and have to move my fret hand up one fret to do that bend on 5. If I instead do a full bend on 4, it sounds pretty good, if I pluck after bending the string. What do you think?

It will have a very different flavor than the 1/4 tone bend he does, but if your low E string isn’t nearly as flat as his is when you get back to the root chord it’ll be a huge improvement:-)
