Wow Tom! Tuners are special. And to think, that is your neck view when playing ... Nice!

I hear mine may return from the finisher tomorrow.

Thanks! I love them too. I think applying any finish to just about any wood is a great experience. I just love what it did to the look of the mahogany here not to mention the dark koa center piece! Makes it so rich and deep looking.

Ha I was thinking the same thing....after all the finishing touches, that side view of the neck will be what I see 90% of the time while playing...now while it is hanging in the center of the living room wall as an art piece who knows...(OK have to clear that with the Mrs. yet, but hey how could she object????)

Tomorrow!!!!!! WOOP WOOP!!! I will be watching for updates from Mark all day then!!!!

Tom

Default Here's some finishing shots.

Well, not all coats are on yet, but here are a few shots of the guitar in the middle of her make up session. Still has more to go, but coming to live nicely I think:

Thanks...

It's looking really great Tom!

That arm bevel and binding really came up wonderfully under some finish.

Enjoy the anticipation!

Mark

Really like the BRW under finish. Beautiful. That ab is sparkling. Good stuff. Glad you were able to get a glimpse.

That really is a killer set of BRW--looks awesome! Really digging the bevel and the purfling too--everything is just really starting to pop. Congrats! Won't be too much longer...

Thanks for chiming in Mark, I really appreciate your comment. That koa really did come alive with the finish didn't it?

Thank you very much. Everything seems to be a cutaway these days, I kind of like the traditional look there and who knows with a larger box should come larger sound!!!

Yes, I think so too, and I don't think the angle of the picture is such to really show it (the BRW) off as much as it could either!!! Looking pretty good though. Love the abalone as well, not as much abalone as on yours, but I'm tryin to keep up with you!!!!

Thanks Nemoman. I really like the back also, but I am with you, that koa really came alive and on the sound hole too. This was my first real glimpse of the completed sound hole. The dark lining used as backing for strength there, Steve told me it gave a really cool look, and you can just see it there, makes the bound sound hole look bound again!!!

Thanks Mike, I agree. One of those details is the lining I just mentioned above, it gives a really cool look to the inside of the sound hole. And, how about that top, the finish really brought out the silking in that top!!!

Getting pretty excited. Trying to stay calm, because it is still probably a month away I would guess....

I'm a huge fan of abalone and Koa bindings so that makes your build naturally one of my favourites. Not to mention all the lovely design details, huge fan really can't wait to see the finished product and hopefully some clips too!

Been absent from the forum lately as school just started for me. But don't worry, I will be back with more posts soon enough

Very pretty guitar. The bevel/binding intersection is perfectly done in some unforgiving wood.

Hey Marcus, let me thank you as well! Really appreciate the kind words.

And brother John, thanks for your comments too. You are right, these lighter woods tend to advertise clumsy work--cutting that bevel demanded several more cups of coffee than usual.

Steve
