The guitar is now ready for finish. The truss rod cover is done and the neck & body have been masked for finish. I am hoping to get the first coat of pore fill on tomorrow.

Today I got the first layer of pore fill laid down. This is where the true color of the guitar starts to come to life.

I thought so. I love the way it pops the grain and wets the wood.

I have been pretty busy at work lately so I am about half way through spraying the lacquer currently.

I know how that goes. I can't wait to hear and see the finished product.

Here is a shot of the rosette from early on in the finish process. I am happy to say that I have confirmation from my client that he likes giraffes, otherwise I was going to have to throw this guitar in the burn pile.

Good thing you didn't use a zebra plate, or we may have had a problem.

The guitar is now curing and will be ready for final sanding and buffing in not too long.

Beautiful looking guitar.

What size spring clamps do you use for clamping the linings? I just bought a load of 2" ones which seem as if they will apply plenty of pressure.

Also do you change anything with the soundboard bracing to accommodate the fan fret I.e. turning the x brace?

Thanks, George.

My mini spring clamps are 2".

For a fanfret I would turn the bracing pattern the same amount as the bridge.

Looks great Chris! What affect does the giraffe bowl have on the tone? Seems to me the kid you stole..err..borrowed it from would be screaming too loud to hear the guitar.

Tony,
The giraffe bowl is the most important part of the voicing of this guitar. I was really wanting a very "wild" sound for this one.

As for the kid I comandered the eating utensil from, he stopped crying once the check cleared his bank account.
