Hey all,

Here is the finished demo video with a spoken introduction about the guitar with professional photos sprinkled throughout followed by a few sound clips to show the tone and how the fanfret responds to CGDGBE and DADGAD. No EQ or compression, just a small touch of reverb through a matched pair of Neumann KM-184s.

Really fun putting this all together, and would love to hear everyone’s thoughts or if there are any questions. It’s taken just a bit of getting used to but for the most part it is extremely transparent and sounds SO great in standard tuning as well (as least with light gauge strings). Enjoy and thanks again!

What an amazing instrument for you - sounds incredible already! Another few weeks of steady play (which I KNOW it will get) and it's going to go crazy.

As it is, it's one of the best sounding acoustic recordings I've heard in a long time.

I remember the first time I played a fan fret guitar - about 10 years ago in Florida at Simon Fay's house. It was a 1 7/8 - 2 3/8 28" scale on the bass with no fret markers anywhere. I was going along fine in an open C tune and then I went to hit a harmonic on the 12th and one of the guys there said I looked like a deer in the headlights.

Seems like you've mastered it pretty quickly (as I would have expected!)

Man I bet that was a complex experience!! Haha I admittedly have had some "wait, where am I" moments with this guitar but every day is feeling alot easier

Congrats Dustin!!! The guitar sounds as great as it looks! Can't wait to hear and see more. The pro photos look awesome. The back of the headstock looks cool. What wood is that?

Also, I ordered your latest CD "Woodscapes" from your website. Looking forward to listening to it.

Congratulations Dustin.... It looks like Marc used Snakewood tuner buttons made by my friend and luthier John Buscarino.

It's absolutely incredible, Dustin. Each and every detail is sublime. And the tone, wow. So wonderful that you and Marc discovered each other's art perfectly compliments the other's.

For those who haven't checked out Dustin's Woodscapes album, I highly recommend it.

Thanks Paul, I plan to record a ton with this gem...the voice and sustain are still making me grin like a little kid with his first bike.

That wood is Macassar Ebony! I asked him to do snakewood for the back veneer as well but he didn't not have a wide enough piece and doing multiple pieces with the bend in the volute would've been really tricky...the ebony sits better and gives just a hair more stability apparently so I was happy to have that instead.

Should have that cd in the mail very soon, thanks man! :-)

Good eye! I absolutely love these and their finish...may order some more right now actually, before they thin out!

Dustin, that is a real beauty with sound to match. You really know how to make them sing. It's awesome that you have been able to get to know the fan fret so quickly. Love your music!

Thanks buddy! Its actually only noticeable in first position, so doing a C or F chord it is noticeable but then up the neck it's very transparent I am finding
