Default NGD: Eastman E1D

I recently picked up an Eastman E2OM which I thought was going to be the 000 that was finally a keeper after having several others and moving them on. Alas, after the honeymoon, I finally gave into the fact I'm just not a 000 guy. Nothing against the E2OM, it was impeccably built and sounded nice but the same as every 000 I've had it left me wanting.
That leads me to the E1D. I returned the E2OM, essentially trading it for the D. The dread is much more my speed. It's a great all-around guitar. Deep lows, sparkling highs, snappy mid range. I bought it used but there's not a scratch on it. The top has some nice silking and a little bit of bearclaw here and there. I like it. I think for less than $500 it can't be beat. Maybe I'll try to get some better pics this weekend if the sun comes out.

Congrats on what looks like a nice guitar! Enjoy.

Understand about the dreads - just something about them and that big body vs OMs.

That's a beauty! I recently purchased an Eastman for the first time (E1SS). I've been blown away by it. I'm sure yours is the same.

Glad you found one that suits your needs. The E1 and E2 are great guitars, but I’m also partial to the dreads, at least in that series. Enjoy that one!

Funny, same thing with me. Huge Eastman fan here. I actually have their top of the link OM-40, which is stunning and gorgeous with all that bling. The problem? I've been a dread guy (both Martin and Gibson styles) for over forty years. It's a wonderful fingertyleguitar, but for me it just doesn't have the drive I'm used to with dreads. I've settled on Gibson-style slope dreads the last 10 years or so, and find them pretty good at both fingerstyle and flatpicking.

Be Well,
Scott

Very nice! And for $500 what a bargain!

Enjoy every moment of playing it. I love the description of the tone, deep lows, sparkling highs and snappy mid-range. Just reading about it sounds lovely.
