Saw this on youtube recently. Quilted carbon fiber. So, how long before we see it on an Emerald guitar? Anybody out there want to try it?

It seems that the material can be backlit. You could get some pretty cool visual effects with something like that, especially for stage performance. I doubt I’d ever opt for it, but I sure would like to see what could be done with it.

It looks as if it’s a sheet material made from carbon fibre, rather then the cloth itself.

There are some nice examples of its use on electric guitars here:

It’s interesting that this maker uses it as a top veneer over a traditional wooden body, rather than the other way round, as we’re used to with Emerald and Rainsong.

Well, that link has some interesting images. A few electric guitars - would be fun to see what Emerald can do with this.

I’d be in for a CF electric.

I met the owner/maker and his wife at the Blade Show in Atlanta a few years ago while standing in line for over an hour. I bought some samples to use for scales (handles) and showed them around to other makers. I think that segment of sales took off. I also sent an email to Emerald about the possibility of using it for their guitars but never heard back. It's very high quality.

That's very interesting. I wonder how it's made?
