Are you working on the long version from "Author's Notes?" Its a lot better than the one in his book. One of my favorite songs of his is "Sweet Rotunda." I don't think too many have heard it though. It used to be the theme music for Martha Stewart's TV show. That's on the "Author's Notes" CD too.

I sure have gotten alot of song ideas from this thread. Next time I'm looking for something to try I'll track down one of the songs mentioned here.
Thanks, TBMan. Now I have to go out and buy another book!

And, if I can find it, "Eleanor Rigby"...which I used to know how to play in the late '60s, and simply can't remember. I hate that.
Pete Huttlinger does a great fingerstyle arrangement of Eleanor Rigby on his Naked Pop album. There's a tremolo section that sounds really challenging. I'd guess it's the equivalent of one of Tommy Emmanuels more difficult songs. I want to learn it one day, but I just don't have that technique down at all and I think I would need months to years of practice to nail it as smoothly as he does.

Right now, I'm spending a lot of time working on arrangements of some of the old, standard hymns.

That, and mulling arond the idea of learning the Peter Lang tune "Roundworm Reel". Hear it here: (first song in the list on the left side of the page)

There's some work to be done, fer sure.

When I was 15 I figured out every Rik Emmett acoustic piece he had recorded with Triumph. I still remember Fingertalkin but the others have kind of slipped through the cracks. I can't believe how driven or tight my ear was then. I think I would have a harder time now even though I am a much better player than I was then.

Not as impressive as my Mom who figured out the Rachmoninoff preludes by ear on piano when she was 12.

What version of Scarborough Faire? That's on my list.

I'm currently working on Trambone (TE)
My candidate list in no particular order:
House of the Rising Sun
Mr. Bojangles
Dust in the wind
Tears in heaven
The Boxer?
Jesu Joy of mans desire
Canon in D
Scarborough Fair
Those Who Wait
