I just got on a Pink Floyd kick after watching a doco on them. So the main thing I'm working on is Wish You Were Here. Then I'm still smoothing out Simon and Garfunkle's Scarborough Fair. Other's are Landslide, Smashing Pumpkins version and STP's Meatplow - my electric has been a bit neglected lately.

Yea, Wish You Were Here is fun to play. I like Landslide, too!

Maybe I will try it fingerstyle or thumbpick, thanks.

[QUOTE=fingerman314;1131663]Short term: Mark Hanson's Key to the Kingdom

Are you working on the long version from "Author's Notes?" Its a lot better than the one in his book. One of my favorite songs of his is "Sweet Rotunda." I don't think too many have heard it though. It used to be the theme music for Martha Stewart's TV show. That's on the "Author's Notes" CD too.

I sure have gotten alot of song ideas from this thread. Next time I'm looking for something to try I'll track down one of the songs mentioned here.

The big one I'm working on right now is Lawrence Juber's version of "Little Wing". I'm about 3/4's of the way through it, but it sure doesn't sound like LJ .

I'm also working on Clapton's acoustic version of "Before you Accuse Me" and Big Bill Broonzy's version of "Hey Hey". I'm kind of on a blues kick right now.

England, I think

FWIW, I've started doing Sting's "Fragile" with a kinda relaxed Latin beat, in Dm (a step lower than the original).

And a guitarist friend recently taught me a jazz progression or two when I acquired my ES-175, just so I would have something idiomatic to noodle around on
(I changed one of 'em to an odd time signature and added a bridge; I'm de-composing )

. . . and my own material, of course

haha yep. there's lots of cover vids of it... except they're all either just the intro or you can't really hear what's going on.

i started playing that song to get a good workout with my hand. i never really could stretch them far but this song really helped with getting some of the tougher stretching chords down.

Default A new original...

blues in Dm in open tuning: DADF#AD. I was driving through sugarcane country when the horizon billowed with smoke, the fields aflame. Using images to create lyrics, a song idea formed. At home I was just strumming the guitar and humming and rolling the words/images around, and found a new, to me, sound, all new chord forms for me. I hope to have it ready for my next show in April.

Hi Mike

Them's some good tunes. I especially like "You Ain't Going Nowhere"...the whole Sweethearts of the Rodeo album, in fact. I enjoyed playing it back in the 70s and I enjoy it now.

Sounds like you're doing great at just three months!

"The Weight", The Band

"Hotel California", The Eagles

And, if I can find it, "Eleanor Rigby"...which I used to know how to play in the late '60s, and simply can't remember. I hate that.
