Default Olson SJ BRW (part II)

Hello everyone,

I'd like to start this new thread with a few photos that I recently took of my Olson SJ #1449 which was built in 2013.

The white background was "manually" applied in some areas but otherwise the colours of the guitar weren't tinkered with.

I used a Fuji X100 on Velvia film simulation with the aperture closed down and a pair of LED lights.

Here's a close-up of my favourite 42-style extension:

And after a very long day at work, I sat behind the microphones and recorded a simple piece which I've called "Berceuse noire" (literally translated to "Black Lullaby").

Thank you for your continued interest and support in my music and photography efforts.

Do you even play that guitar??? It looks so flawless!! You make people on the forum hesitant to post photos and videos, really great photos and I really like that composition of yours. Love the harmonics at the start, surprised me in a good way

Great photos; will listen to the YT vid when I get home, I'm at work now and can't load it.

Is the top Cedar?

On the top of the mountain with this one, Mau.
I can't imagine a guitar sounding any better than that.

Good photos, too.

Thanks Marcus.

If you look at the fretboard or feel the neck, you'll notice the guitar gets played abundantly -- but otherwise there's no real reason for this instrument to show any battle scars. My technique is rather delicate -- and I'm not ashamed to say that people who mishandle guitars aren't allowed in my home.

Thanks, Matthew. Yes, the top is red cedar, just like on my Tree SJ -- but the grain is very different. I like them both but this one is my favourite by a good margin.

Thanks, John. I used a tripod and long exposure for this set of photos.

Thanks, Jim.

I tried to let the guitar breathe on this piece and kept the number of notes to a minimum. I also stole part of the progression from Chopin.

Sorry Mau, I should have told you before I got to your place. But I remember telling you how negligent I am with my guitars. You must have been scared !

You did fine, JF. Your technique is rather compact anyway.

I have friends who must be constantly reminded to stay away from my guitars. There's an old Ovation in the corner if they insist...

Love the tune!

I guess it really showcases the tone and response of your magnificent guitar.

By the way, artists don't steal, they "borrow".....

Thanks so much, Yogi.

Artists have "borrowed" so much from Pachelbel I figured I could get away with this minor offense...

I'll try to come up with an original video for this one. Maybe I can take my Apogee MiC outside.
