I now have a serious case of shop envy ... SO nice!
Just love the guitar look too. Custom hand built lutherie at its best!

I'm very pleased how the shop is coming out. I started out with a great space in a wonderful place and have been slowly growing into it this past year. The town of Peterborough is a classic small New England town and art is a strong part of the culture here. It's a wonderful environment to be creative in. Thanks Again Mark

I'm just getting the Cocobolo Greta back from the finisher so I spent some time this morning getting the tuners ready. I make custom wooden tuner buttons when I use Gotoh 510 minis. While the minis are already on the light side, the wooden buttons help shed even more weight. I don't like heavy headed guitars! Additionally, I can pick the wood to go with the guitar. Since this guitar has kind of a sapwood theme I'm going with this selection:
Thanks for viewing Mark

That's nice work all 'round. Your slotted headstock is particularly striking, and I'm very interested to hear how the ebony guitar turns out!

No wood lights up quite like Cocobolo under finish: Lot's of Cocobolo trim with a bearclaw top: Here are a couple shots of the arm bevel: A-B'ing which wood to use for the bridge: Cocobolo? Or Black Ebony? We've got the weekend to think this one over Enjoy! Mark

Looks really awesome, Mark-- I especially like the thin coco purfling on the top edge trim. It really ties things together. I'm leaning towards the coco bridge to match the fretboard and the other detailing. But the ebony looks great as well! Great work!

Looks Fantastic!
Great work as always. I agree, I feel the black ebony works best.

It's been a busy week I've been setting up the parlor guitar for JR and the Cocobolo Greta while also working on a new mahogany Greta for TAMCO and my Penelope spec crossover.
Here are a couple pictures of how the Cocobolo Greta is coming along. Here is the headstock: We decided to go with the black ebony bridge which I made today and am gluing up now: Thanks for viewing! Mark

That arm bevel is a work of art. Almost film-strip-esque. The yellow/amber tones of the wood in the bevel make it look almost illuminated from a distance... As if you built a tiny lantern into the guitar. Very nice job on this one.

My client asked that I work some sapwood into the arm bevel and matching up the bevel with the rosette, I think, really created a nice radial cut look to it all. The sapwood on Cocobolo is an additional nice element to an already gorgeous wood! Mark

All Strung Up
I got the Cocobolo/Bear claw Sitka all strung up today:
It's hard to catch in a photo but, the bear claw really shimmers and the marking are very symmetrical from side to side: Sometimes to smallest touch of color can really go a long way. In particular red seems to have this transformative power. I really like this small touch of red on this little leather washer under the strap button: I'll give this one a couple days to settle and then I'm installing a LR Baggs Anthem pick-up system and it should be ready to ship next week Mark

Thanks matthewpartrick!
This one is a real pleasure to play; 13 frets, arm bevel, a very thin neck profile and 24.9" scale. The Cocobolo really adds to the sustain and I managed to get a very nice bass response. Mark
