Yes it is to mark the "fanfrets.
I am always facinated at how different Luthiers have created their own "jigs" to assist them with their craft.

Glad you're enjoying it Eric.
A few pics of the crafting of the headstock: I know I am just a little biased but I think it looks fantastic!!

Top quality in every respect...
I just love what he does with wood and that he avoids the whole deal of making his guitars some seashell-encrusted, chintzy mess.... I would love to get my mitts on some of his work....LOVE TO! You lucky dude. |

Thx for the kind comments. Yes, I am truly blessed but I think we all are to have so many talented Luthiers today who are not just great craftsman and artists but also such great people as well, in general.
Certainly all the Luthiers I have dealt with are just fantastic to interact with even if one doesn't commission a build. Anyway, it feels like Christmas every Saturday morning when I wake up and go to my URL and see new images. I have come to really look forward to waking up (I am an early riser anyway, so it's about o4h30-05h00), making a decent cup of coffee and firing up the pc to download images. A few more images of the neck being shaped: More later today...

Roy, this guitar is coming together great! I've been enjoying this thread. I'm looking forward to seeing how all those wonderful details and cocobolo pop out under the finish.

Thanks Danny & Mike.
It certainly is looking amazing and I am also looking forward to the "blossoming" under finish. The finish will be started around end January for completion around March so we will have to wait patiently for a while before any further progress.

Gosh this is a pretty one. And a fan fret also... sigh. She'll sound even better than she looks! I've got to get over there before this one leaves the shop.

I'll never build a guitar, but I thoroughly enjoy learning about the process through pictures of a beautiful one like this. Can't wait to see and hear the finished product!

Hey Jay, I’ll let you know when I go down to look at this awesome guitar being built. I will bring mine as well, just to have the action looked at.
