Well, I assembled some furniture from IKEA, but there is no way that I could have done work that you have done, specially that bending of sides. Great work.

The bending wasn't that bad, first side was of course a little shaky and scary too - but it got into its desired form after all (an hour or maybe longer - time go fast). The second side was then much faster.
Before the rosette I never ever used a router - so this was also my first.

Wow! If this is your first build and you've never used these tools before then somebody must have really inspired you. I wonder... are they helping you too? C'mon, tell us!
Sorry, I just tease because I'm envious. It's coming along beautifully. Kudos on the rosette design and execution.

Day 4
Back braces
Lets glue the central strip then shape it with finger plane. Lets cut some wood for braces from a big chunk of willow and arch them to 25" Now gluing them on 25" bowl In meantime let's make heel and top blocks from mahogany ...and prepare kerfing for tmorrow by sawing hundreds of slots on table saw, then cutting them on a band saw to strips. Here the kerfing is not yet triangulated - which will be done on a band saw by tilting the table. Easy and cheap method. I am going to put cedar kerfing - for a single reason - smell. When the glue is set on braces I shaped them with a finger plane and thinned them on edges with chisel. That's enough for one day. Tomorrow I will glue the blocks to the sides, glue the kerfing and if lucky I will also put the back on it. 20 days left... Note: I put more info in first post about the Sergeis shop.

Thanks for the update...what a blast.
On the rosette, when you glued the two pieces of spalted maple, I am unclear how you went from those two pieces the a circle. Is there a picture that would fill in the image of how that happened?

Just a tip for the kerfing i heard on the luthiers forum, try soaking the kerfing in warm water to make it bend more easily without having it snap off.

Looking good! I have a friend that also builds guitars. He isn't a member here; but I'll have him check yours out anyway. I'll keep checking in myself.

There wasn't enough spalted wood to do a full circle so I glued two small pieces such way so an open circle will fit over it. It doesn't have to be full circle because we are putting fingerboard from one side. The rosette looks like a full circle after sanding, but I simply put some other waste pieces of wood under where the fingerboard is going to be so I don't have a hole there.
