OK Roy...

But here's the real question…

Do you like the guitar or not?

And I do understand the inability to explain to others the difference a high end guitar makes in one's hands...

Larry's songs...

…Just because you've argued someone into silence doesn't mean you have convinced them…

Lol Roy! Thanks for the wonderful review. I'm really glad you like it. I know I was so in awe of the tone I just couldn't bear to touch it with a pick. You've convinced me, (as if I wasn't convinced already by Larry and Mike), to have Michael B craft my "dream project" guitar if I can talk him into it and $$$ turns around. Ahhh the visions we assemble in our heads...

I've got a big smile on my face thinking of you playing this guitar. So glad all is fantastic!

Michael (Young), Jay and Larry - thank you so much for taking the time to visit Michael Bashkin's shop for me and send me images, reviews and soundclips etc.

This is truly a wonderful forum that has brought me not only two fine guitars, opened up a new world of exquisite instruments and extremely talented Luthiers, but also introduced me to a few very fine folks as well.

Thx Jay, glad you got to play it as well.

Roy, I wish I did but I'm a flatpicker only, hence my saying I couldn't bear to touch it with a pick. I lived vicariously through Michael Young playing it, and played his Bashkin which is closer in size to my "project" idea. But yours had the wood combo I'm thinking of so it was really a treat hearing that and convincing myself of that end of things.

Any impressions you have about "driving" your Bashkin I'd always be interested to hear as that is kind of the direction I'm going, although much of the time my flatpicking is approached with a very light touch.

But I'm putting the cart waaaay before the horse.

Jay, I will be posting more in the next week or so as I start playing it more. I will "drive" it a bit as well and post my thoughts.

It was my pleasure!

I feel your pain, it's tough to put into words what Michael's guitars sound and feel like! All we can do is strive to put it into words. You did a good job though, at summing up what I felt as I played it!

Even after a year, I can't put into the right words how my guitar was that day I first played it, not how it has changed since...It's something that needs to be heard and felt to truly understand.

Congrats Roy on a great guitar!

Welcome to the forum!

When you play this one, that is if you can pry it out of his hands, you will fall in love with it. I had the chance to play it at Michael's studio and wow, what an instrument!

Thank you for the warm welcome Mike.

That is an awesome looking Bashkin you have there. I love the Cedar/hog combo - must be a great finger style instrument and the beeswing figuring is beautiful.
Wow...
