Ahhh man,....fitness what have you done ????

I just finished posting to the topic about lifetime guitars
and how I've got mine and perfectly content

and you go and temp my ears with this !

It reminds me of an Olson SJ cedar top I played earlier this year.
Only ....if this is possible ....
I think the bass on this Petros may be superior
(listening to audio sample number one)
wonderful history of the wood !

How am I going to get through the rest of my day
knowing that I could drive about 40 minutes and
have that Petros guitar in my hand and be playing it ?

and knowing my line of credit loan on the house could cover the 12k
(making the payments would be another story)

oh fitness, you temper you

Maybe we could buy it as a group guitar...
12 forum members...put up 1k...
we each keep it one month at a time and share it

- Larry

I was wondering if this was "one of ours"...looks like Diamondave has to let her go... I know I would be "crying" if I had a beauty like this that I had to put up for "adoption"..

Old timber used for all kinds of purposes are sometimes excellent tone woods. Elmer Stromberg was known to pick up timber from demolished buildings for use in his guitars - and we all know how highly regarded those archtops were for their sound and projection. The virtue of those old "second hand" woods is that they are just that - old and thus well seasoned (which this guitar maker in question rightly stresses).

BTW, a good luthier can likely make a very good sounding guitar from what is generally considered inferior tone woods. As an experiment, Bob Benedetto many years ago made an archtop with a top cut from ordinary kiln dried constuction grade pine riddled with knots, and plain, flat sawn lowest grade maple. It didn't sound any different from his other guitars made from top grade tone woods. So maybe it's more about the luthiers ability to "read" whatever wood he/she has at his/her disposal than it is about expensive wood.

Neat story behind the "Tunnel 13" woods...

An AGF group could pool together and buy this ravishing beauty, each play it for while, then pass it on. The only problem is the first guy would have to have it pried from his hands.
