CF Jazz Guitars?

Hi All,

With all the talk about the Emerald KESTREL. I was surprised that Rainsong had gotten there first with the JZ-1000. Interesting design and saw one for sale on eBay below.

Was wonder what other CF Jazz Guitars are out there... anyone else knows of any?

The RainSong Jazz Boxes are quite rare. Have not seen one in the wild.

I too have never seen one. My WS-1000 is from 2001 but I was aware of Rainsong for a few years before that (anyone else remember their magazine ads with a Hawaiian fellow playing one in the middle of a waterfall?). I do not recall seeing this archtop style guitar before.

Sweet! If it plays half as well as the Kestrel, then it's well worth that price.

Rainsong made a number of guitars that don't get a lot of attention. On the old Michael's forum someone posted a list and pictures of the extensive variety of models produced by Rainsong. It's very impressive.

Until I saw the listing I was only aware of the more popular models. At one of the CarbonFests (at Mystic Springs) I got to play a RS nylon string, hollow-bodied electric guitar with no sound hole. It was a great instrument. Never seen one since.

I've never seen these guitars(or the Rainsong) in the wild. Anyway, first up there's Fibertone:

And, at least once upon a time, there was Martin Lewis String Instruments. MLS has a Facebook page that hasn't been active since 2012 so who knows? I can't seem to find an official website so it appears to me at least that Facebook is it:

For those who are curious, here's an interesting video of the two archtops produced by MLS(the Tweed Heads Classic and the Lil' Mate). Pickups, BTW, are by Kent Armstrong who knows his way around an archtop:

The Rainsong may be easier to set the intonation on given the Tune-o-matic bridge. Of course, the sound would be expected to be affected by the metal bridge and tailpiece. Beyond that, the built in two pickup configuration would be expected to diminish the acoustic loudness of the instrument. Not that that should be seen as a flaw for an instrument meant to be played plugged in. God knows, there are plenty of iconic archtops out there with two built in humbuckers.

I believe Russ Freeman from the Rippingtons was an endorser...

Fibertone CF archtop got a travel version which the neck is detachable so that the guitar can be hand-carried when on board of a plane.
I'm looking forward to have one, some days...

I owned one of these. It was a great guitar. Very stable tuning. Excellent sounds as I could mix the piezo in with the magnetics. Acoustic sound was rather strangled but when I removed the rear control access panel it opened up the sound alot. Very nice neck. Inside I found a signed certificate as these were made in the original factory before they moved.
The guitar was quite heavy though.

I love the look of the Fibretone single cutaway (ES175 lookalike) They don't quote prices on the website though which usually means they are even more expensive than you expect
