Default Banning the cheaters?

With the start of another MLB season, and the cheating scandal still hovering about us, should the players that took part in it from Houston, etc, be subject to *permanent* banishment and forfeiture of all last season awards?

No, because the commissioner has already given them immunity to get them to tell the truth about what happened. Can't change the rules at this point.

The players involved will just have to bear the "cheater" label for the rest of their careers and beyond. Man, I really used to like Altuve and thought of him as "Mr. Baseball" ... now, they wear the badge of shame among the fans (which I doubt bothers too many of them) and, more importantly to them, their fellow players.

Why bother? Everyone knows now they cheated and didn't deserve the championship. Too many moving parts to reverse it all although the asterisk would be appropriate in any publication of their championship win. Of course they all definitely should forfeit the bonus money that they got. That's easy enough to recover and would hurt the bottom line of these unscrupulous people.

I don’t know, maybe ban them for a year or 2 without pay.

There's a lot of room for something in between banishment and nothing. But it doesnt matter what we think if the commish already decided.

+1. If the commissioner had not given players immunity then the scope of the cheating proven by MLB wouldn't have been extensive.

Now, if the league can prove that Altuve was wearing an electronic buzzer under his shirt when he hit the pennant clinching, walk off HR then he should get a season suspension. If that happened then it means he (and his teammates) lied about it thus hindering the investigation.

As I said on another post on AGF with a similar topic, I'd toss the Astros out of the majors. I know this is extreme, but it's how I feel. Banishment for a couple of years is my 2nd choice.

PGA star Patrick Reed, aka “The Shovel”, should be banned for life due to his frequent cheating.
