Default sinking bridge on Martin Acoustic bass

I'm awaiting delivery on my first ever bass. It's a 30+ year old Martin Acoustic. It's reportedly stable and playable but I'm wondering if some of you have worked on these and know what I'm getting into. I love a challenge. If it's playable, I'll just leave it alone until it isn't. I don't know how these were built (sturdy for endurance or light for performance). guess I'll figure it out when it gets here. Also, did they remove the ability to upload a pic here? Can't find the paper clip.
