If you ask someone who is eating "a lot of protein" to try to add muscle you might get "120 or so grams", as our resident 70 year old workout guy in this thread responded.

It depends on your goal.
Yup, I get it. For me the goal is health first and sports performance second. I ride and surf a lot better the lighter I am, so more bulk is not a goal. Not enough muscle isn't my problem. I personally have never needed to change anything about my diet except my overall caloric intake during the years which I was adding a lot of bulk for playing football. It's actually not easy to get rid of it for me.

There are also some long-term potential health concerns with high protein diets that are concerning enough for me to avoid such an approach.

Here’s a great article that dispels some of the myths about protein intake and long term effects.
It’s long since been acknowledged that a higher protein diet does not affect the kidneys nor is it necessarily harmful to our bodies. Additionally, It is suggested the requirements for athletes are significantly higher per pound of body weight.
I recognize this is just one article and one study, but it falls in line with most everything I have researched.

BTW, too much muscle...there is no such thing.

How are any of you guys ripped at our (assumed) ages? I was in perfect shape until I had an accident that prevented me from working out for three years. Now and at age 46 I don’t even know where to begin.

The trailer was excellent.
This should be posted over on the Covid 19 thread, for those who put their blind faith in what’s being disseminated out there today.
I would do it, but I gave up arguing.
