Default New Uke Day

Ohana CK-10 from Mim’s Ukes. Great setup and great tone for a beginner instrument. Now is a good time to learn the uke and put all of the resources Eddie Vedder included with his Ukulele Songs vinyl. Almost have ‘longing to belong’ down. Learned C-G-F immediately and christened the Uke with Neil Young’s Helpless. Fun little instrument!

With all respect to Eddie, here's Eddie's take on this great old tune and then Bernadette Peters and Steve Martin's take (the great Lyle Ritz is actually playing the tune, Steve's uke-syncing!)

Yeah I would say Steve and Bernadette did it much better, of course Steve had a stunt uke to back him up, although based on his current banjo prowess I wouldn’t be surprised if he can tackle that old uke song like a pro these days.

At any rate I am really enjoying the uke, concert is a bit small. I will definitely be upgrading to a decent tenor, I just wanted to get something for under $100 to test the water, turns out the water is fine. I haven’t played guitar in days.....!

Love my Ohana thin body tenor! It is surprisingly warm for a thin bodied uke. Bought mine from Mim too. She is good people.

Enjoy yours!
