Yes except place batting in frame and wrap cloth over both the batting and frame, giving a nice tight square edged look
I made these stands out of 1X4 Alder for exactly that purpose
The bottom of the 2' X 4' frame rest on the middle cross brace then just ran two screws through the side braces to fasten into the frame
