Here's a few examples on solo guitar. Two short examples, one slow, the other a bit more fingerpicky. On each example, I start with a dry pass, then two different UAD presets. Obviously there are a lot of variables here, from all the tweaking the plugin allows, to the reverb mix. I tried to make these realistic mixes, but may have erred on the side of wanting to hear the reverb. Order is
Ex 1. Dry Ex 1. "Awesome Room" Ex 1. "The One" Ex 2. Dry Ex 2. "Acoustic Guitar" Ex 2. "Piano"

Sound On Sound put up this new video last week touring Capitol Studios. There's some discussion of the actual echo chambers, but mostly I just thought this was a fun video about the studios in general. https://youtu.be/Ex85UBvDrgQ

That was a fun watch. It's so cool to see video taken today that looks so much like it did in photographs of Sinatra and others that were taken there.

The UAD summer sale started today. If you still have the $50 coupon they gave out for May, you can apply it to a 3+1 custom bundle and bring the price down to $349. FYI - that May coupon expires tonight.

Why isn’t it called a Reverb chamber when there’s clearly no echo, per se?
Nice piece, though. Howard

Also, as shorthand, "echo" needs less explaining. "Reverb" is short for reverberation. Most people know that now. But back when it was a new concept, something you never heard on your Guy Lombardo 78's, people would hear the term "reverb" and go "huh?"
Just like, around some people, you're not going to say "pot" as shorthand for "potentiometer." You're just going to say "knob." |

Since UA was running one of their pretty good bundle sales I got 4 of their plug ins for $399:
Capitol Chambers, Chandler Curve Bender EQ, Chandler Zener Limiter, and Ampeg B15N bass amp As always, it’s jim1960’s fault.

hehe... for a long while UA had nothing I really wanted badly enough to drop any cash. Then that Capital Chambers happened. I suspect you're going to enjoy that reverb though.

I ***think*** this will be it on the plugins. My next purchase is a serious monitor upgrade as I have finally finished treating my room. Then, it’s on to upgrading the front end of the chain with some different preamps. And then.................

During this sale I grabbed the elysia nvelope and karacter, and the brainworx refinement, saturator V2, and the XL_V2. I've been curious about the hardware version of nvelope so maybe this will push me in one direction or the other on it. The XL_V2 is a mid/side limiter. I've been collecting limiters in recent months when I realized how much I dislike AVID Maxim about halfway through a recent mastering project. Halfway through that cd I picked up Izotope Ozone 8 and dropped Maxim in favor of O8's Maximizer. It really made a huge difference so now I'm curious about other options out there.
