OMG, that label cracks me up! Reminds me of a set of kitchen knives we got as a wedding gift in 1983 that had an official looking label that said “Keep out of children”.

My CEO-1R has a label, a friend’s dread from the Martin custom shop also has one I think. But ours are spelled correctly and have good grammar and complete sentences.

The awkward use of words on the label is the first giveaway. The label is cleanly done. But the wording...

The saddle probably is bone. It is one of those generic Chinese bone saddles that are on numerous imports.

This guitar does bring up an interesting question. It is a fake, but visually not bad. The tip offs are little things- the label, the bridge, the saddle, etc. These are not expensive things. If someone is going to the trouble of building fake Martins, why not put just a bit more effort into it and have a real good counterfeit?

Don't get me wrong. For the sake of Martin and those buying Martins, I wouldn't like to see a really good fake being done.

If they put an original name on it and not Martin, they might sell more of them. The ones I’ve seen are of reasonable, useable quality, just not Martins.

Come to think of it, what if they are using our critique to find out how to make better fakes? Hmmmm.......
