Buy your Chinese guitars now.....
I assume the up coming tariffs will effect guitars imported from China. Not trying to open a can of worms--just a PSA!

Just saw a list of items to be taxed and instruments aren't on the list.

I should be OK either way. When I buy again (and it won't be in the near future), I'm looking to either Ireland, Czech Republic or the good ole US of A. Not a knock against China made guitars - I've got a couple of fantastic Alvarez models that I love - just where I'm looking.

Have purchased three Eastman instruments in the past week (mandolin, mandola, and octave mandolin). Didn't have anything to do with tariffs, but good to get them while I can... as the mandola and octave mando aren't always easy to find in stock.

Even if it does the effect should be negligible. Tariffs are calculated on the value of goods as they leave China and not on the price that they may be sold in the U.S., which of course is many times higher.

Not a problem. My fake Martins are made in Indonesia.

Yeah, I guess if you’re in Canada it won’t make any difference -

Exactly. The tariffs are against landed cost to the wholesaler, not the final retail price. The tariff increase will be diluted as it passes from wholesaler to dealer, and then dealer to final customer. I do expect a price increase, but if a guitar company passes along a 25% price increase, they are likely exploiting the tariff situation.

I import a number of items that are used in the manufacture of my products, and I assure you, this is a big and costly problem that will ripple throughout the US economy on many secondary levels - I'd be much happier if it were just guitars - But I'd agree with the OP - buy 'em now -

Margin is pretty slim - so thinking that there's alot of room to absorb this extra cost and not pass it on is not very realistic -
