Default Nitro-safe stands?

Any suggestions? For my poly-finished electrics I always used Quik Lok which claim to be nitro-safe, but I prefer to take the word of folk who actually use the things. Thank you in advance, my D-18 will be happy.

I am pretty sure Hercules are, I've got 2 and they've never done harm.

but for that black rubbery material that most of those products have,,..

dunno, I wouldn't trust anything but a cotton or flannel material warp that goes over it.

That's not a bad idea. I use cork sheet underlay on my model railway! Thanks.

+1

I cover parts that touch my guitar with with cloth from an old white cotton T-shirt.

Been using Hercules stands with my Martins for years, no problems. I don't leave them in the stands overnight, though.

Another long time satisfied Hercules user here. Never had any issues with nitro finishes on them. But as mentioned above, I never leave instruments in stands overnight.

I have the Fender deluxe stand. Have not had any trouble with my Guild, which is nitro, though it only stays on there for an hour or so, max.

Yep...I use the Fender Deluxe stands, too. Fender advertises them as “perfect for guitars with sensitive finishes, such as nitrocellulose.” I’ve never had a problem...but my guitars are only on the stand for an hour or two during my daily playing time.

HI aG

All three of my hand-builts are nitro finished, and I've never had any issues with Hercules stands (and mine live on the living room wall in Hercules stands).

They have been hanging there for 20 years now without incident.

Hercules stands and racks are fine for nitro. I've been using them for years, and none of my guitars are kept in cases.

Last summer there was a similar thread, and several forum members recommended, besides the Hercules stands, the

Ultimate Support GS-200 Genesis Guitar Stand
https://www.musiciansfriend.com/acce...50718000001000

so I bought one, and really liked how secure they hold my guitars. I've since bought several of them.

Another vote from me for Hercules stands - been using them for over a decade with all my guitars with no incident.

Cheers,
David

I use a Starfish stand and have not had any problems with the nitro finishes on my guitars.

Best,
Jayne

I see there are a lot of satisfied Hercules customers. Personally I prefer the Ultimate GS-100 stands. It touches the guitar at the bottom of the headstock and it hangs, much like the Hercules- except I see little real-world functional need for the wingy-thingies (with which a malfunction could bring the stand along with the guitar as you extract it). I get the GS-100's for around $22 so almost half price of the Hercules... and lighter because no wingy-thingies.

But if you're that concerned about the nitro finish, wrap the contact points on any stand with flannel and you should be good.
