Default Martin Retros and the Shorty

I had all but stopped playing my Shorty, I wasn't happy with the sound and the thought of selling it even crossed my mine. Once and only for a second though. After reading the posts here, I finally got the Retro lights on it. Oh my....they have been on about 4 days and I was playing some laid back stuff this morning before going to work, when the wife looked up from breakfast and said "That sounds really good".....which is like getting the ultimate seal of approval! Thanks to those that posted their trials and tribulations with them earlier. I love it when I find "THE" string for a guitar and can quit experimenting.

I'm shocked that you actually considering selling the Shorty.

I'm considering ordering some of the Retro's for mine but the reviews have been kind of everywhere. Some of complained of a echo or howl off the A string and others have loved them. I play fingerstyle mostly and heard Moondog Bedyam's video with the Shorty strung with these and it sounded pretty good to my ears.

The howling I reported isn't constant.
I think it may have to do with the sound chamber of a dred being so big.
Not sure.
I wouldn't hesitate to try them on a smaller box.

I exaggerated a little, the thought of selling it lasted about .25 of a second. Truth is that it is one of the easiest guitars to play that I have ever owned. It's right there with the Collings for playability. At least for my hands. I had a Rainsong OM about 10 years ago that I always regretted selling. So I doubt this one will ever go anywhere.

I put Retro lights on my Shorty a week ago and I have to agree completely.
I just love the sound and the feel of these strings. Just ordered a couple additional sets.

So far they are my favorite string on the Shorty and 000-15M, I'll try them on the J45 soon.
