I have a rack that holds 5 guitars. Recently sold the sixth guitar. 5 seems to be a good number for now. 4 daily players and one travel guitar - the DJr. I rarely find a guitar in a store that sounds better than the ones I already have.

Have I stopped buying? probably not, but I definitely have slowed down a lot. I've been playing about 10 years and have gone through a lot of guitars during that time to understand exactly the size and sound of guitars I like. Pretty satisfied, for now

I have two acoustics and an electric.

Several months ago, I got a Cordoba Mini classical that is tuned A-A. It's so fun to play, and so little it shouldn't count as a guitar.
I will never sell it. It's small enough to fit in my coffin.

At a crucial point in my GAS experience...I had five guitars in my house. A friend of my girlfriend and my GF staged an intervention, and I got rid of three of the five. I now have two...an OM & a Dreadnought. I can justify that.

In my experience, probably a bad move : Your GF will never be satisfied...
and, since that episode, you would always have to "justify" whatever you want. Right ?
By the way, where did the retrieved money went for ?
Sorry !
P.S. Five is far from crucial GAS... ;-)

My girlfriend once talked me into selling 8 of my 10 guitars. We were living in her car at the time.

I think I could do 5 eventually - 2 steel-string, 2 nylon-string (classical), and a 12-string. I currently have 8, and would be willing to sell or give away 2 steel-string and 1 nylon-string. But until I need to, or find someone who wants them, I am okay with them staying.
