Reaper is great once you find your way around it, and there is a great deal of good YouTube tutorials by a guy called Kenny Gioia - good luck.

Sorry for the late update. I wasn't ignoring the thread. That hurricane that came up the east coast on Tuesday did a number on me. A large oak along my driveway snapped its trunk and took out my landline phone, internet, and television. I was without electricity for 30 hours. Just got the rest back this morning but that almost didn't happen because the utility pole on my property that brings the electric cable to my house is now leaning at a dangerous angle. And because my electric came back on, and because the pole only services my house, I'm going to be near the bottom of the priority list for the electric company.

Anyway... here's the updated list.

No house damage though? We had a similar situation (mountain, ground shear winds ) snapped the base of one pole on our property and but the others on either side kept it from falling,, Took the power company about a week and 1/2 to replace it



Just before the power pole snapped I noticed our horse trailer foot had slid (about 7 ft.) over towards a steep drop off on our parking slot. I had to go out and strap it to a big boulder, to keep it from toppling over

The foot had been in the center of the asphalt

No house damage so long as the pole stays up. Mine is at about the same angle as yours.

Another Reaper convert here. I started with Cakewalk/Sonar years ago, but never used it much and never really felt comfortable with it. I recently got a free version of Cubase LE with some hardware I'd purchased and it seemed much more intuitive to me. One problem, though: LE is a 15 GB download, and if I want to upgrade to Artist or Pro, it's another 20+ GB. I have monthly internet download limits, which makes things tricky. I managed to grab LE, but wasn't looking forward to doing it again.

Then I heard about how small and efficient Reaper is to download and figured I might as well give it a try. I'm about a week in and I'm sold. I like the physical look of Cubase better, I think, but getting things done in Reaper is coming pretty easily now. At some point I may look for a Cubase-like Reaper theme and have the best of both worlds.

Plus one to Kenny Gioia of Reaper Mania. He's got a 15 part YouTube video series introducing Reaper 6 that got me up to speed fast.

Logic Pro here, lower intermediate. I used it for years, stopped doing home recording and (stupidly) sold my gear, and have been getting back into it over the course of the summer. Logic has a lot of complex tools for working in and with a wide range of musical styles, but for basic acoustic guitar and vocal recording, its editing capabilities make for a simple, intuitive workflow that doesn't get in the way.

Since Studio One Artist now has remote functionality and includes the ability to use third-party VSTs you might want to include it on your list. $100 or bundled with PreSonus hardware.
