Looping and headphones...
Any one here use a loop station or any kind of looping device to practice with headphones?
I've looked at the Boss RC2 and the RC3, but you can't use the output with headphones. I might add that I would like to use the unit with both acoustic and electric guitar. I would like to keep the purchase under 300 Any thoughts? Thanks.

As long as you don't need to save your loops, I would recommend the Zoom
G3 pedal. It has 40 seconds of looping, a drum machine to loop to, as well as lots of amp models and effects. There is a headphone jack. All for $199. Search out reviews on this forum. Good luck. |

Very cool. Can it be used with an acoustic guitar?
Thanks. I'll search.

The few ways I mentioned are the JamMan, Korg Pandora, as well as using an analog to digital device in a computer and my mobile devices. I do not have a foot pedal to help the Pandora and a few Apple apps have me using the phone and iPad more. You have a lead in feature to make your loops with the Apple apps I mention but the foot pedal operation of a dedicated looper is easiest. Griffin makes a stomp box to manipulate the iShred app which states looping but I don't experience with them. What I can say about mobile device music is I've had simple headphone/mic jack units and a well regarded USB interface and you want the USB interface if you want the quality you have with must instrument products. Oh, I rarely use headphones with my looper because it's in my isolated office and I don't travel with it but they work fine. One more on headphones. If you get a bluetooth unit with mic most software will see it as an input device too and cause problems with DAW software if you also have a guitar plugged in.

Buy a $30 headphone amp and any looper you'd like.

This little headphone amp takes a battery and is thus pretty portable... http://www.rolls.com/product.php?pid=PM55

Digitech Jamman Solo
I have the Digi Jamman Solo.
It can handle acoustic, electric, piano, voice...anything you can pipe in through the jack. It also has an aux jack for recording music in off a computer or ipod. It'll store upto 35 minutes with its flash memory. You can also expand to 16 hours by adding a memory card. The output jack can be used for headphones. I paid $150 from GC with one of their coupons.

Thank you for all your input.
I ended up buying the zoom g3. I almost bought the digitech jamman solo, but it needs a power supply, the zoom g3 uses both battery and AC which is what I need at this time. I need to be able to take it out in the back yard and enjoy some private fun time without worrying about how long the extension cord has to be. I really like the features of the digitech jamman solo. I might end up buying both...maybe. I'm optimistic that the 40 second loop will be enough time for practicing.
